I love home-made gifts. It’s so much more personal and I’ve really been enjoying sewing again. I made these guys from remnants from a local fabric store. Which made them quite reasonable – but not really cheaper than buying them in the store.
I had this post waiting for a while now, I made it early as a present for my future niece or nephew due in the Spring. I have made 1 quilt before this, and have never sewn with minky. Since it was a gift I wanted an easy binding that would look great. This is perfect and easy to accomplish for a new quilter.
Last Christmas I made this little tree skirt, from an IKEA blanket that cost around $10 CAD. I cut it into triangles and matched up the ends and sewed them into a round skirt. Remember to leave a gap so you can easily get it on and off the tree. I tucked the tails inside, and top stitched them so that they don’t pop out.
One Saturday afternoon I got a random text message from my sister-in-law “would you be interested in helping me make pillow cases for some throw cushions?” To which I responded with a “OF COURSE!!” I love to sew but I need a little help getting started. She is a new teacher, and looking for a ways to make her budget stretch and still make the classroom a fun place for the kids.
