I bought this vintage glider second hand from a nice lady who had rocked all her babies, and grand-babies to sleep for naps in this chair. I got it for $40 Canadian. I probably could have bartered a little harsher for it, but I see them for sale often for over double that! The cushions were worn from all the baby rocking and needed some extra padding and a fresh fabric.

DIY Tabletop Tutorial
Hello DIY enthusiasts. Today I’m going to take you into a little more detail on my tabletop that we built for my DIY Farmhouse Table. I’ve had a question or two on how we managed to assemble a single piece 4′ by 8′ table top out of lumber. Since this is after creation the pictures aren’t amazing but I’ll do my best to talk you through it! As always any questions can be posted in the comments or you can reach me through the contact form on my about page. Read more

I have always loved the look of an upholstered headboard, to me it looks and feels like an adult bed. This was a big project, the only furniture I built this summer. This post will link to to several others as it was quite a process and really breaks down into several steps. That way you can see take the whole process of each separate element of the bed.

DIY Farmhouse Dining Room Table for $200 CAD
Inspired by Shanty-2-Chic’s Triple Pedestal Farmhouse Dining Table
I needed a very LARGE dining room table, our family is already a strong ten between siblings and significant others without any babies. When we were looking at tables anything that seats ten or more is VERY expensive (we’re talking $2000+ for just the table!). So we started looking at alternative options. I fell in love with the rustic look and actually considered spending the $2000 on one from Restoration Hardware table, until I saw Shanty-2-Chic’s Farmhouse Dining Table. I thought if they can do it maybe I can too, but I had never built anything before so I tested my abilities on the Console Table and moved to the Coffee Table, and this my friends is the grand finale! If you want to build one you can find free plan done by the wonderful Ana White here.

DIY Tutorial: Using a Kreg Jig
Why would I use a jig? The intentions of using a jig is to pre-drill holes into your materials to completely hide all fasteners.
Some carpenters and handy-men will build their own jig with scrap wood. You can do this, but you will need to build a new one for each material thickness and screw length you need. The Kreg Jig is adjustable, easy to use, easy to set up and as long as you are paying attention, fool proof. If you are going to do what I’ve done and build lots of your own furniture then the Kreg is worth every penny. If you are just planning on doing one or two small projects, it may not be worth it. I have used this Jig on my Farmhouse Console Table, Farmhouse Coffee Table, End Table, Farmhouse Dining Table and I have many plans for it in the near future too!
