Have I told you I love quilting?
I love cutting the fabric and putting it all together.
But more than that, I love imagining the little one using it.
Today, I’m sharing a self designed quilt with a quilted applique monogram.
I loved the fabrics from my Girlie Strip Quilt so much I couldn’t resist the opportunity to use the leftovers in a second quilt. I did need to get a little new fabric (the palm leaves), and I fell in love with it as much as the rest. Of course, I didn’t buy much extra and am now wishing I had. ☹️
This was only my second applique, and I couldn’t be happier with the results! I handmade it with the help of my Cricut Air 2. I had the Cricut draw the M with a fabric marker, mirrored on the back side of the fabric. I cut it out with a border, to create seam allowances.
I quilted this whole thing on my little Bernina! I had to do some strategic rolling and tucking. If you’re gonna try that, start in the middle and work your way out.
Hope you enjoyed looking at my first ever monogrammed applique! For my next act in quilting, my 4 year old has asked me to make her one. I think I will take her shopping and let her pick out her own fabric (once we can, of course).
