I wanted to make homemade juice. I had been given some apples from my parent’s apple tree and I didn’t know what to do with them – there was so many!! That said, I don’t have a juicer. But the internet has information on everything, so I started to look for alternative methods. And wouldn’t you know it, I found one!
Basically, you make a puree. Filter out all the pulp with either a coffee filter or cheese cloth and voilà! JUICE!
Now, the blogger didn’t mention it but you need to pull up the ‘no drip’ thingy on the coffee filter in order to let the juices drip through. Too bad I didn’t think of it until nothing had happened for an hour or so. 😦 It also didn’t mention that it would take FOREVER to let gravity pull the juice through. And it didn’t mention that 12 cups of apple puree would make 4 cups of juice. It’s SO not even worth the 2 days I let it drip… that’s right. 2 days! For MOMENTS of juice enjoyment.
Moral of the story – buy a juicer or don’t make juice.
